Description

Pottery for parties, potlucks, and picnics!

This class will focus on wheel throwing and hand-building techniques to create functional pottery intended for gatherings. Projects will include specific forms for sharing food, such as an olive ring, a large salad bowl, a raised platter with handles, serving trays, a covered cheese plate, and a tiered dessert tray. Lindsey will begin each class with a demonstration, after which students will receive one-on-one instruction while working independently. Students will improve their foundational skills while also exploring more advanced forms.

This is a project-based class. Students should be prepared to watch demonstrations and follow along with Lindsey as she will focus on one aspect of the process each week.

Lindsey Howarth

Ceramicist Lindsey Howarth, hailing from South Jersey, completed her BFA focus on ceramics, in 2007 from Green Mountain College in Vermont. During this time, she apprenticed at Blue Moon Pottery in Greenwich, NY, and worked with other potters along the Saratoga-Albany Pottery trail. Following a term in the AmeriCorps and teaching children’s clay classes, she moved to Berwick, Maine in 2010 to work in production pottery at Salmon Falls Stoneware. In 2019 her husband completed her home studio, facilitating further exploration of clay and developing her current body of work. Currently Lindsey teaches at Chases Garage in York, Maine, and shows her work regionally in galleries and at shows.
