Description

Explore altered forms in this 10-week class!

Students will throw forms on the wheel and then change them by adding, removing, altering, reshaping, darting, and paddling the clay. While learning more advanced techniques, students will build on their fundamental wheel-throwing skills. Hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques will be used to construct functional and sculptural forms. Students will be encouraged to experiment and explore creating new shapes.

Demonstrations and projects will be based on student interests, so bring your ideas to class! Projects may include oval baskets/fruit bowls, oval/squared-off lidded jars, a multi-part caddy, altered vases, flasks, and how to make thrown and altered animals. Students should be prepared to watch demonstrations and follow along.

This is a technical, project-based class
