Description
Learn to elevate your pottery through surface design!
Throughout this 10-week class, students will learn about Mishima, Sgraffito, and carving techniques while using colored slips and underglazes. Lindsey will demonstrate how to use various tools, materials, and processes related to each decoration technique. Design, composition, and color will be explored to encourage students to develop a personal style. Students will receive hands-on instruction while executing surface decoration techniques.
Basic wheel-throwing and hand-building processes will be shown to aid students in creating blank forms that will then be decorated. Students are welcome to create pieces using any construction method of their choosing. Glazing techniques relating to accentuating surface decoration will be demonstrated towards the end of the session.
This is a process-oriented, technical class. Students should be prepared to watch demonstrations and follow along.
